#WearItBeatIt OPI Red Nails to help fight for every heartbeat supporting The British Heart Foundation

I just wanted to shout about a fabulous Friday! Through my business Sweet cheeks beauty, I was able to paint nails red and support the British Heart Foundation in the #Wearitbeatit campaign at Gravesham Women in Business. With over 40 local business women attending hosted by Hatten Wyatt Solicitors & Bretts Business Recovery it was a great morning and £120 was raised for the BHF to help fight for every heart beat.

I used my collection of OPI polishes with over a hundred in my collection I had lots of reds for the ladies to choose from, supporting the charity by wearing red February the 6th and with a number of events going on throughout February 2015

Monday Motivation a chance to Thank Everyone for their Kindness.

Morning Beautiful people,
Yesterday was a shit day!! I went into my beauty room and found that over £500 of my equipment had been stolen, it really does suck for so many reasons;  Firstly gel Nails is my main business especially this time of year, secondly I’m just me a little sole trader trying to do the best I can, it’s a really rotten feeling made worse by the fact I’m likely to know who done it, you don’t expect anything like this, I’m not covered on my insurance because of the fact I trusted the community within the studio and I stupidly didn’t have a lock on the door within the building and so I am pretty much screwed.

If you are in the kent area and offered one of these lamps please message me o have my original box and serial number.

I know somewhere there is a lesson in all this and I’m trying my best to stop crying and get on with learning the lesson, the one I have seen so far is how many amazing people I have around me that have been so kind, supportive and kept me strong when I just felt like this was the cherry on top of a big shit cake of a month! And so that’s where today’s motivation comes from, be kind this week to everyone you can, people’s small acts of kindness for me yesterday made a world of difference to my feelings today. If any of them are reading this, Thank You.

#MondayManicure The Sky’s my Limit Mustang Blue

Honestly didn’t look at the name of this polish until after painting my nails, but it’s apt as after today’s Monday morning motivation I’m doing as I promised and making a start to big plans and changes for my businesses.

Anyhow…NAILS!! How devine is this shimmering blue, it’s called Sky’s the Limit and is part of a limited edition Mustang collection created with OPI.

I keep smiling at my nails as I type, I picked this colour today not because it goes with my outfit (it doesn’t I’m wearing pink polka dots!) but I was doing some blog photos using my HUGE nails polish collection (for something fun coming up later today) and this was just one of the many I havent worn yet.

What do you think? What colour are you rocking on this fine Monday morning?

As with all OPI polishes the pro-wide brush and perfect consistency ease application giving an even coverage in just two coats. I am a good girl so of course used base and top coat!

Monday Manicures Me & My Great Aunt

Love spending time with my Great Aunt and after my airy fairy moping morning there was no way better to laugh and get myself back in track than spending some time with my Great Aunt and giving her a nice mani to make her feel good.

What do you think? all it is on her nails is a nice neutral OPI nail envy in pink, with avoplex cuticle oil and moisturised with L’Occitane hand cream because it’s her favourite!

Then there is mine I was feeling adventurous so combined Minx on the ring finger with a Christmas shade of OPI Gelcolor, I Carol About You.

What look you sporting for your #MondayManicure?  I’d love to see share your links below

Monday Manicure Red OPI by Gwen Stefani

Not gonna lie,  I love Gwen a little bit too much, I think she is amazeballs in all that she does and she is an extreme chick with style, plus she spells her surname how I spell my first name although mines said like the average stephanie not stef-arnie!

Anyways I diverse it’s Monday (I still have just over an hour left of Monday!) I have to manicure my nails today I chose this amazing box set including the red Over and Over A-Gwen by OPI created by Gwen Stefani it’s awesome!
It’s a strong red and the nail art all be it fiddly is edgy and gets people being creative with their own nails. I think this is worth every penny and would recommend over and over a-gwen. Haha ♥

June Brazil Birchbox

A bit late, I know, I know. But it’s here none the less, infact the next few days your probably be overwhelmed with blogs as all I want to do is write at the moment, whether it be journalling, poetry, features or blogging!
I loved every part of the presentation and brightness that filled my June Birchbox as soon as I opened the box to the green and yellow bag, I was happy.  Plus the added touch of my free Birchbox keyring and of course the gorgeous mini mag included.

I found most of the products of the usual exceptional standard, although the shades picked for me in this box probably wouldn’t have been my first selection. I have tried to review each product whilst thinking of all the senses and the nature in which we use beauty products daily, plus the results.

OPI Brazil Nail Lacquer
May as well keep it short and sweet to begin with I use OPI in my Sweet Cheeks Beauty Room, I love them, have since I was a teen and I waffle on about them a lot! This colour however does not do it for me, it doesn’t make me think of Brazil just makes my nails feel rather foreign to me! Not a me shade at all. Shade AmazON AmazOFF

Beauty Blender
I love it because it’s pink and it does also do an awesome job at applying and blending foundation, it works really well my only downside to this product is how much of my foundation it seemed to absorb 😦

In this photo the middle pic on the right is my before.. Last couple of days I have been using the facial moisturiser Embryolisse Lait-creme concentre included, it’s rich without leaving my skin oily, it leaves me with a calm even tone and it really hydrates the areas that are crying out for some thirst quenching moisturiser.

Yves Rocher Sheer Botanical Lipstick
With the key ingredient argon oil moisturising lips with its sheer non drying lipstick that leaves lips feeling silky smooth. Colour, Maron Glace is not as dark as it appears once applied.

Naobay Body Radiance Lotion
I liked this, it’s had a clean fresh lemony fragrance perfect for the hot summer days, with added she’s butter olive and avocado oils for really soft, glowing and radiant skin

I subscribe and review each month as I said I have loads coming up including July GlossyBox, My First Pretty Pink GlossyBox in June and The July Stars & Stripes GlossyBox.

Don’t forget if you decide to sign up because of one of my blogs, i’d love you to use one of my links I include, it means I get points and to indulge you all more with more reviews tried and tested. As always comment, like and share just let me know your out there.

Monday Manicure OPI liquid sands

Wouldn’t be a Monday without a new manicure, I purchased these two lovely OPI Liquid Sand polishes on my beauty haul this weekend.
I also won Grazias MondayManicure competition last week, using a white a pink liquid sand from OPI

The liquid sand polishes are a bit like the shatters…  and marmite!  You either love them or hate them and whilst I can take or leave shatters I adore the liquid sand texture.
These two colours are Emotions a black from the Mariah Carey Christmas Collection and My Current Crush a beautiful magenta like purple that comes in a textured duo set with top coat.

How are your nails looking today would love to see your #MondayManicures be sure to tweet me xoxo

Fake Cosmetics People Finally Realise!

A few of my friends shared this fabulous article The toxic trade in fake make-up: How counterfeit cosmetics containing dangerous levels of arsenic are being sold online to unsuspecting bargain hunters on Facebook, its written fabulously for The Daily Mail by Charlotte Kemp and is something I have been harping on about for ages!

I go into a rage when I see the products at markets but even more so when I see people actually buying them, the age old saying “if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is springs to mind”

Also as a beauty therapist I know that products contained within a lot of legit brands are bad for your skin and so couldn’t bare to imagine the non tested ingredients included in these fakes, like the eyeliner containing 46 times the allowed quantity of copper!! But it’s not just online and at markets. Have you been offered a make up party at home? with the usual promising speel of “it’s not fake my mate works for {insert department store} and its just off the back of a lorry” they are probably telling a few white lies to get those sales and sell these delightful fakes to your friends and family.

Did you know if they are an insured therapist doing this not only can the usual trading standards laws come into play but they are also at risk of invalidating their insurance as a therapist as well as more serious legal proceedings because of the duty of responsibility that comes from being a certified therapist when we undertake our exams and gain our qualifications. Another article from The Daily Mail shows how Leanne Wertheim used four separate eBay accounts to sell £40,000 worth of fake products – including copies of Max Factor and Bobbi Brown – to unsuspecting customers and was sentenced for it! It also shows it not just high end brands but more high street brands like Max Factor too!

The worrying thing is I contacted some of the large scale companies that i had seen snides of last year, as a concerned therapist and wanting to educate my clients. The sad truth is they didn’t really care, which amazes me as not only is it the risk it runs to customers but to their business too for many reasons
a) because everyone is cutting back so will go for the cheap over the real retail
b) if they buy the fake and it causes. them to react they could think its a brand they can no longer use effecting the £ coming in and the word of mouth referrals.
c) the quality is poorer and no where near that of the actual brands again lowering people’s views of them.

So what companies should you watch out for?
I personally have seen MAC brushes & cosmetics, Bobbi Brown Brushes, Chanel blushers & eyeshadow palettes, Benefit mascaras & blusher cosmetics, Bare Minerals foundations & OPI, Essie, nail polishes & OPI, artistic gloss & gelish Gel polishes. Don’t even get me started on perfumes!

I have a special video blog I’m putting together right now on OPI nail polishes, as this is something I retail and want people to see the difference! I will post the link here as soon as I have completed and uploaded supporting pics from the camera.

For now here are some tips for being alert for fakes;

Know your brands, be familiar with the brands if you are buying them go to a counter ask questions get expert advice.
Don’t buy cosmetics from eBay unfortunately there are just no guarantees what you are purchasing is real as most the companies don’t certify auction sales through retail clients.
Use your phone; there are two ways first google it’s full of information and images at your fingertips to show you exactly how real products look. Secondly Bar Code scanner I got this tip from The Indian Beauty Blog on spotting fake cosmetics and what Ritu says is true if they are a fake product they probably have a fake bar code and an app like —- could be the key to identify a fake quickly.
Use Your Savvy, Your Common Sense! Remember if it sounds to good to be true, if the discounts are ridiculous, or if its a large range of the brands listed above STEER CLEAR unless purchasing from a certified retailer (normally listed on brand websites)

So have you unsuspectingly purchased fake cosmetics? What brands have you seen “knocked off”? Comment and share below! I want to work on making people as aware of the dangers as I can.
