A Week today until the next Pamper & Shop Event Gravesend

Its the afternoon and i still have no make up on so needless to say my FOTD is coming later, yesterday has totally wiped me out so ive been trying to get my brain working most of the morning, almost there!!

I spent this morning trying to pick a charity to support in the raffle and donations at next weeks event, this is always really hard and something that I sit and research personallly. Having read lots and crying reading all the ways people depend on charities for support, i picked Movember.

Firstly because someone who i know wouldnt want to be named but is close and special to me has prostrate cancer and its horrible and i hate it! but secondly because as much as Movembers all about supporting the Men, we are the women next to them suffering too, we are the daughters, the wives, the sisters, the granddaughters, the nieces, the friends who dont want them to have to go through this alone and through next weeks charity raffle, through donations from the tickets, through sales on certain stalls, through selfies and rasing awareness WE are going to JOIN IN, WE are going to make a DIFFERENCE, WE are going to show our LOVE & SUPPORT!

So come join me and over 20 LOCAL TRADERS & THERAPISTS, at The Clarendon Royal Hotel Gravesend at 7pm next Thursday 27th November.
There will be buy one get one free on cocktails, special Christmas goody bags, demonstrations, shopping, treatments, a truly wonderful warm friendly and fun atmosphere plus a special invitation and big reveal for 2015 ahhhhhhh …. not many people know that, im EXCITED!!

Sweet Cheeks Pamper & Shop Tickets

The tickets should be arriving today which makes me even more excited for this Thursdays Pamper & Shop Event.

At just £3.50 its a fabulous evening filled with loads that I already rambled about here. Plus you can see more over on the Facebook page.

A WEEK TO GO Sweet Cheeks October Pamper & Shop IM EXCITED!!!

Just a week until the next event I start to get that butterfly feeling, I used to think it was nerves and fear but I’ve decided now to embrace it as excitement! Simply because when I worry it always turns out I was worrying for no reason and they end up being totally awesome, amazing evenings.

The nights are filled with traders I love to support and work alongside and include such a diverse list of therapists and stalls to shop! Some of the stalls you can browse include children’s clothes to ladies clothes, accessories, jewellery & handbags, home ware, handmade gifts, cards, teddies & plaques, candles & warmers, chocolates & cakes, beauty products, health & fitness. Then the therapists offer treatments at discounted rates that include hot stones, massage, reiki, Indian head massage, reflexology, gel nails, mini manicures, brow waxing and much more. Plus they are all really generous with their affle prizes, next week we are raising money for DGS Mind, click here to read my blog on why!

The gorgeous people attending help make the atmosphere, everyone is so chatty and friendly amongst themselves and with traders, and they all continue to return and bring friends, I’m so grateful they are all so supportive of the events.

With each one they get bigger, the stalls, the amount of people attending, the treatments, the prizes, the gifts! Ahh it’s crazy fun I’d love for you to share with someone local to Gravesend who would love an event like this, and if you can come BRILLIANT! The feedback from the last event was superb but I aim to get better every time.

How I Spent My Morning, Professional Women in Business Gravesend

Ok so I done a quick post in bed this morning and told you all how I was off networking and just felt I had to share my own experiences with you.

20131128-135903.jpg This is the amazing group of women I got to have breakfast with, divulge business ideas and inspiration, learn about their amazing work & businesses and leave feeling truly uplifted & inspired. I also want to say a massive thank you to the 3 great women who organise the Gravesend Professional Women In Business meeting every month Jo Howe of The British Heart Foundation, Emma Harrenden of Hatten Wyatt Solicitors and Isobel Brett of Brett’s Business Recovery and of course not forgetting the wonderful staff and management at the gorgeous Gravesend Old Town Hall venue.

I have been working for myself for some time now and the fact is it can get lonely and you can become stuck in a rut of procrastination and doubt every so often. Attending networking changes that, don’t get me wrong it takes time to find networking that works for you I have been to so many groups but now only attend 3-4 that I know are actually building the network of inspiring entrepreneurs (and friends) around me.

So what are my key tips in networking;

1. Know what you are setting out to achieve.
For me it’s a few things, having people around me I can call when I am not sure what the hell I’m actually doing, extending the network and variety of businesses I work alongside, building up contacts I can refer, trust and recommend to my clients and most of all put a social bit of fun into what can sometimes be really lonely!

2. Don’t expect to sell to the people you are networking with.
It’s not about how much I sell or how many new clients I get from networking its about making the businesses aware what I do, how I do it and why I’m so bloody good at it! (Haha) I want to be the first business they turn to for beauty advise, for treatments, for events, I want to be the name they say with such enthusiasm when their clients are looking for the services I offer.

3. Give Give Give
I love helping other businesses out of a rut, giving ideas or feedback, or donating my time and services to be of benefit to others. Straight after I had a great coffee and catch up with another female entrepreneur who has also become a fabulous friend Sonia Hurren Parent & Teenager Coaching Specialist we were talking about our presentations what we like what we missed, our plans for the future, (they are exciting watch this space!) and also recommending people we should each reach out to and even though our businesses are completely different we were both able to GIVE each other SOOO much!

4. Build power connections
This is something I learnt from the Evo Girls networking I attend run by Rebecca Roberston (one of my business besties!) from Evolution For Women, the idea behind power connections is a person or business who works with the same client base as you, so where you can both offer your clients something amazing but you both offer those clients a different service or requirement.

5. Follow up
Networking will never come to fruition if you don’t hold the connections and follow up, they will just remain a collection of business cards sitting on your desk of names and numbers that are of no use to you. Get to know these people, chatting for a few minutes at a networking event is not enough make strong bonds, really understand one another’s business ethos, have a coffee and catch up regularly stay connected. Again don’t sell to each other build relationships they pay off in so many different ways in the long run. For me they mainly pay off by having a list of business buddies I can call during melt downs and who pick me up when I really think I’m not rocking my biz the way I should be and they know i’ll return the favour too, because it does happen to all of us. But obviously there are a lot more mutual benefits to staying connected!

Also one thing that I think is a major business rule anyway was said in the presentation given by the hugely inspiring Zoe Cairns of ZC Social Media, and its what I’m going to leave you with today that applies to all routes of life business, social media, personal contacts ….

Opening the Sweet Cheeks Beauty Room at Athena Fitness

So in my last post I told you a little (well quite a lot) about what it took me to get to the point where I could announce “Sweet Cheeks Beauty has a home, a gorgeous beauty room at Athena Fitness” you can have a read of that here, but this post is to tell you about my new beauty room where it is, transforming it, the fab Athena Ladies I get to work alongside and making one of my dreams come true.

It all came about by not only one of my best clients but also my oldest and dearest friend.

I was doing my Kaleighs minx and she is an amazing pole fitness instructor and told me about a beauty room that had become available where she teaches, having already said no to two beauty rooms already this year my gut instinct told me this was it, this was the next step and my perfect opportunity. That evening I emailed the lady I knew who ran Athena Fitness Olivia and having been established and respected within her industry for so long with a team of amazing and highly trained staff i was excited by the possibilities of what could be (i think that enthusiasm came across in that email).

Meeting Olivia at the beauty room located within Athena Fitness Gravesend for the first time I knew straight away we could both make this work and within that little beauty room I was going to make magic happen, I agreed at this first meeting, this was not an opportunity I wanted to miss.

The day after receiving the keys I spent the day decorating I wanted this to be transformed and to be Sweet Cheeks Beauty quaint and just perfect, new and relaunched.
Here are some snaps I took through the transformation.

Me looking every so glam (but incredibly happy) as a painter & decorator

From green to a soft mauve just beautiful!

All complete with couch and products

So now I need to tell you all how you can come get pampered in this amazing little beauty room, well you can keep up to date with the latest updates through the posts on my Facebook page my website Sweet Cheeks Beauty is currently being redesigned, all part of the new dreams, expansion and exciting things to come. If you want to pop in and see me though head down to The Loft, Unit 2 Milton Business Park, Milton Road, Gravesend, Kent DA12 2PG. I even added a map for you to come find me 🙂

If you come in on a Tuesday-Thursday evening you may get chance to see the girls working there magic in pole, aerial hoops and aerial silks, if your feeling really brave you could take them up on there offer of a free taster session 🙂

With special thanks to kaleigh, the friend who has always been so important in my life, Olivia for giving me this amazing opportunity being so supportive and all the Athena girls who I love seeing through the week, absolute amaze me in their classes and for making me feel so welcome. And of course goes without saying my gorgeous fiancé who puts up with my occasional psychotic entrepreneurial tendencies and my little boy who makes it all worth it every day when he says “I love you” and on days like when I was telling him about my work and he replies “I’m proud of you Mummy” (that’s pretty amazing coming from a 6 year old).
